Visit of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the ECOWAS Commission

Mr Sediko Douka, Commissioner in charge of Infrastructure, Energy and Digitization of the ECOWAS Commission received in audience His Excellency Mr Juan Ignacio Sell Sanz, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Nigeria and ECOWAS on April 15, 2024 at his offices in Abuja.

During these exchanges, the Ambassador confirmed Spain’s support for the ECOWAS Commission through the financing of a number of projects implemented by its Specialized Agencies, including the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), the ECOWAS Project Preparation and Development Unit (PPDU), the Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food (ARAA) and the ECOWAS Centre for Gender Development (CCDG).

The Ambassador was accompanied by the First Secretary of the Embassy, the General Coordinator of Spanish cooperation in Nigeria and with ECOWAS, and the Projects Manager.

Mr. Sediko Douka thanked the Ambassador for the continuous and invaluable support granted to the ECOWAS Commission and highlighted the outstanding collaboration between the two parties. The Executive Director of ECREEE, the Acting Director of PPDU and the Director of the ECOWAS Water Resources Centre were also attending the meeting.
