Identification of Priority Nexus (Water–Energy–Food) Projects and Support to the Development of the ECOWAS Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Master Plan
The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), in line with its mandate and the recommendations of the ECOWAS–Donors Consultation Committee, is developing the ECOWAS Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Master Plan in collaboration with key regional stakeholders. The Master Plan aims to advance the targets set by the ECOWAS Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) Policies, fostering a sustainable and efficient energy future for the region. It will provide a coordinated, long-term vision for scaling up renewable energy in line with national and regional objectives, while prioritizing off-grid solutions to expand electricity access. Additionally, the plan will support efforts to reduce grid losses to 10% in accordance with global benchmarks and promote the adoption of energy efficiency throughout the region. Ultimately, the Master Plan seeks to facilitate the full realization of renewable energy and energy efficiency investments across ECOWAS member states.
The Master Plan will identify priority renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, including cross-cutting “nexus” initiatives that integrate water, energy, and food security.
With support from AECID, ECREEE seeks to recruit an Individual Consultant to identify priority Water–Energy–Food Nexus projects in the ECOWAS region and support the Team Lead in developing the ECOWAS Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Master Plan.
