ECREEE, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy of Guinea-Bissau, is hosting a three-day workshop to validate the findings of a clean mini-grid (CMG) feasibility study and provide training on the CMG e-tendering and monitoring platform. The workshop runs from March 18–20, 2026, at the Dunia Hotel in Bissau.
The study is part of the Desert-to-Power West Africa Regional Energy Program (DtP WAREP) Phase 1, funded by the African Development Bank and was carried out by a consortium comprising INENSUS and NYETAA Groupe Consulting across five beneficiary countries: Guinea-Bissau, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Mali, and Niger. In each country, 30 rural localities were identified as suitable for developing solar PV mini‑grids.
The workshop in Bissau convened approximately 30 participants from key national institutions, including the Ministries of Energy, Finance, Environment, Gender, and Trade and Industry, as well as relevant agencies and renewable energy and consumer associations.
The opening ceremony featured remarks from Mr. João Lopes, Advisor to the Minister of Energy; Mr. Guei Guillaume F. Kouhie, Coordinator of DtP projects on behalf of ECREEE’s Executive Director; and Mr. Mohamadu Saido Balde, General Director of Energy, representing the Minister of Energy of Guinea-Bissau. Stakeholders are expected to validate the study’s findings and participate in training on the IT platform for e‑tendering and post‑installation monitoring of Clean Mini-Grid projects.
