Call for Applications for the 2nd Regional Certification Examination for Solar Photovoltaic System Technicians in Cabo Verde

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), in collaboration with the Cabo Verde Institute for Quality Management and Intellectual Property (IGQPI) and the Centre for Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance (CERMI), has opened a call for applications for the 2nd session of the regional certification examination for off-grid solar photovoltaic system technicians (Level 1) in Cabo Verde.

Certified technicians will benefit from an internationally recognized certificate valid across all ECOWAS Member States, providing professional mobility throughout the region. Furthermore, the certification aims to strengthen installers’ skills, enhance their reputation, and consequently build the credibility and trust of their clients.

The call for applications targets professionals such as solar installers, electromechanical technicians, and energy engineers, as well as electricians with a minimum of two years of experience. Candidates will be assessed through both theoretical and practical examinations.

The certification exam will take place from 8 to 12 December 2025, at the CERMI facilities in Praia, Cabo Verde.

The programme offers 50 scholarships for national technicians, supported by ROGEAP. The scholarship includes a hybrid preparatory training delivered by the CdC3C Training Centre.

To encourage participation and promote inclusion in the solar photovoltaic sector, the Government of Cabo Verde, through the Ministry of Energy, is providing travel tickets for 25 candidates from outside Santiago Island.
