ECREEE Conducts Three-Day Training on First Aid, Fire Safety, and Institutional Governance

ECREEE successfully organized a three-day refresher training from 26 to 28 November 2025 at Quinta da Montanha, Rui Vaz, Santiago Island, Cabo Verde, aimed at strengthening staff preparedness, safety awareness, and institutional compliance. The training which aligns with ECREEE’s Health and safety policy, underscores ECREEE’s commitment to staff safety, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.

The Ag. Executive Director, Mr. Gibson Obasi welcomed participants and expressed gratitude to the facilitators from the Red Cross and Praia Firefighters for honoring ECREEE’s invitation. He highlighted the importance of the training in strengthening staff readiness, enhancing safety awareness, and reinforcing ECREEE’s Health and Safety Policy. He encouraged full participation in all sessions, noting that a well-prepared workforce is vital to sustaining ECREEE’s operational excellence and delivering on its mandate.

Facilitated by medical, safety, and administrative professionals, the training strengthened participants’ skills in Basic Life Support (BLS), the Chain of Survival, airway obstruction management, emergency response for seizures, strokes, chest pain, fractures, burns, and poisoning, complemented by hands-on assessments using Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and practical session on fire prevention and extinguisher handling. The day concluded with a formal assessment and the presentation of certificates by the Red Cross, who also encouraged staff to register as volunteers through their official website.

The final day featured a presentation that emphasizes institutional governance, through presentations on Staff Regulations, Procurement Regulations, and Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. It was followed by a fire evacuation drill conducted at the ECREEE Headquarters with the support of the Red Cross and Praia Firefighters, reinforcing readiness for emergency scenarios.
