Closing of the FRSD training course on green entrepreneurship and renewable energies in Benin

The official closing ceremony of the training course on green entrepreneurship and renewable energies was held at the Centre Songhaï in Porto-Novo on July 17, 2025, as part of Fund for  Regional Stabilization and Development (FRSD) initiative in ECOWAS member states. The event was attended by representatives of the Benin Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Benin Ministry of Energy, Water and Mines, Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgique au Bénin (VSF-B) and the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE).

Over a period of two (2) months, thirty (30) learners, including eleven (11) women, were trained and coached in the productive use of renewable energies in agricultural value chains and in green entrepreneurship. The beneficiaries benefited from intensive coaching, combining theoretical training, practical work and the development of business plans. During the closing ceremony, installation kits were donated to the learners by Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgique au Bénin (VSF-B) as part of the FRSD initiative.

This training course is implemented by ECREEE  with the support of GIZ within the framework of the Regional Fund for Stabilization and Development (FRSD) initiative promoted by ECOWAS with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The FRSD aims to address the political, security, environmental and social challenges that threaten peace and social cohesion in the region. Its technical component is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
