ECREEE Strengthens the Capacities of Clean Energy SMEs

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), through its Women in Clean Energy in West Africa (WOCEWA) project, is implementing a capacity-building programme targeting over 100 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating in the clean energy sector across the ECOWAS region.

Launched on 18 August 2026, the programme features three training sessions scheduled between 12 October and 13 November 2026. It combines group training with personalized coaching tailored to the specific needs, priorities, and challenges of participating SMEs. Through this initiative, ECREEE seeks to empower clean energy SMEs to strengthen their operations, improve financial sustainability, expand their businesses, and contribute to the growth of a more inclusive and resilient clean energy market across West Africa.

The programme focuses on key areas, including strategic business planning, technical capacity development, financial management, access to finance, and resource mobilization. Particular emphasis is placed on improving SMEs’ understanding of available financing mechanisms, identifying suitable funding opportunities, and strengthening their capacity to prepare competitive funding applications for financial institutions and potential partners.

More than 60 SMEs have already registered, and applications remain open to eligible businesses operating in the clean energy sector across the ECOWAS region. Interested SMEs are encouraged to contact ECREEE at eflan(a)ecreee.org for further information and to express their interest in participating.
