July 31, 2025 – A high-level ECOWAS Parliamentary delegation, headed by Fanta Conteh, Chair of the ECOWAS Parliament’s Committee on Energy and Mines, paid a courtesy visit to the President of Cabo Verde, H.E. José Maria Neves, as part of an oversight mission to ECREEE (ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency).
The visit also marked the 15th anniversary of ECREEE, which was originally launched in July 2010 by then Prime Minister (now President) José Maria Neves and the President of the ECOWAS Commission at the time, H.E. James Victor Gbeho.
During the meeting, President Neves reaffirmed Cabo Verde’s commitment to ECREEE’s mission and emphasized the importance of its regional role in advancing sustainable energy development across West Africa.
This parliamentary oversight aligns with the ECOWAS Parliament’s mandate to ensure effective governance and accountability of regional institutions.
