13th Meeting of ECREEE’s National Focal Institutions (NFIs)

As part of its 15th anniversary celebration, the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) will host the 13th Meeting of its National Focal Institutions (NFIs) on 30 and 31 July 2025 in Praia, Cabo Verde. This strategic gathering will bring together NFI representatives from ECOWAS Member States, specialized ECOWAS agencies, regional energy experts, and development partners to reinforce the alignment of national and regional priorities with ECOWAS sustainable energy policies.

The agenda features a series of high-level technical exchanges, including discussions on energy transition strategies for food systems, the development of the Regional Master Plan for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Infrastructure, and the implementation of key projects under the Circular Economy and Energy-Water-Food Nexus. It will also spotlight the Regional Clean Cooking Initiative for Africa, share best practices in clean cooking solutions, and facilitate dialogue on scaling up impactful interventions. Additionally, the meeting will review the draft Directive on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and validate the Regional Quality Infrastructure Framework for Solar Thermal Energy.

These initiatives are supported by key partners including the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).
