Until his appointment with ECREEE in 2010, Mr. Saho served as the Director of Energy in the Gambia from December 2000. In the Gambia, he was responsible for the overall national energy policy planning, formulation and implementation of programmes and projects, including renewable energy and energy efficiency. Mr. Mahama Kappiah: Outgoing Executive Director ECREEE

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) bids farewell to its pioneer Executive Director, Mr. Mahama Kappiah, after ten years heading the Centre. Effective May 1, 2020, Mr. Kappiah has been appointed to serve as the ECOWAS Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York by the President of the ECOWAS Commission.

Mr. Issoufou MAHAMADOU, President of the Republic of Niger, and current Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, held on 23 April 2020 a videoconference Summit on the situation and impact of the coronavirus. 

ECOWAS commission condoles with Buhari over Kyari’s death

President of the ECOWAS Commission, Jean-Claude Brou, has sympathised with President Muhammadu Buhari over the death of his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari.

Mr Brou in a condolence letter in Abuja, described the death of Mr Kyari as a loss to Nigeria and the ECOWAS sub-region.
