ECOWREX platform presented at SIERA 2025

April 25 and 26, 2025, ECREEE participated in two significant events in Dakar, Senegal:  the 8^th edition of SIERA “Salon International des Energies Renouvelables et de l’Environnement en Afrique – SIERA 2025” organized by the National Agency for Renewable Energies of Senegal (ANER) and its partners and the 60^th Anniversary Celebration of “Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique – ESP “ of Dakar.

At both events, ECREEE unveiled the new ECOWAS Observatory for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECOWREX) which is a powerful tool for decision-making and planning based on quality data for the development of infrastructure projects and to attract investments in the sustainable energy sector.

The presentation of ECOWREX was highly appreciated by students, PhD candidates, researchers, and ESP alumni, who recognized it as tool for sustainable energy data in West Africa, validated by ECOWAS Member States.

At the SIERA 2025, a leading forum on renewable energy and environmental issues in Africa, the ECREEE Executive Director participated in a high-level panel discussion on “National Strategic Frameworks and Institutional Reinforcement for an Inclusive Energy Transition in Africa”, under the theme “Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development: Resilience, Inclusion, and Innovation for Africa.” It concluded with a call for enhanced regional cooperation, capacity building, and increased investment in renewable energy infrastructure to support resilient and equitable development across the continent.
