EOI - Development of Training Materials

The ECOWAS Centre for renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and its partners launched the West Africa Clean Cooking Alliance (WACCA) initiative in October 2012 to promote a wide distribution of efficient, affordable, sustainable, and safe cooking fuels and devices to the ECOWAS population through various intervention strategies that overcome technical, economic, social and institutional barriers.

Consultancy Services - Impact of Kwamoka Farms and Processing Limited

Kwamoka Farms and Processing Limited (KFPL) is a subsidiary of Kwamoka Group of Companies established to undertake general farming, plantation establishment and development and processing of agricultural products. The company is currently developing 480 hectares (1,200 acres) exotic bamboo and cassava plantations at Jeduako-Kwamang in the Sekyere West District of Ashanti Region of Ghana. The company will utilize the cultivated bamboo as the feedstock for its proposed pellet manufacturing factory.

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) launched a flagship programme entitled ECOWAS Gender Mainstreaming in Energy Access Programme (ECOW-GEN) in 2013. The programme was established in the context that the potential of women in the ECOWAS region as energy producers and service providers is under-utilised and that empowering women and men to make meaningful contributions in the implementation of adopted policies is necessary for the achievement of the Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) goals in West Africa.

Project Coordinator - Support for rural electrification in the Liptako-Gourma region

To support the efforts of Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger towards the provision of sustainable energy services to the most vulnerable populations and to capitalize on the very significant potential for solar energy in the region, UNDP and UNOPS in partnership with ECREEE are implementing, with SIDA funding and under the institutional anchoring of the Liptako-Gourma Authority (ALG), the "Rural Electrification Project by Renewable Energy Systems in the Liptako-Gourma Region - Pilot Phase", for a duration of 3 years (2021 - 2023).

DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL BIOENERGY ACTION PLAN OF THE GAMBIA

The energy system of West Africa is facing interrelated challenges of sustainable energy access, energy security and climate change mitigation and adaptation. Principal among the energy challenges of sustainable energy access are the widespread and unsustainable production and utilization of traditional biomass (firewood and charcoal).  This high dependence of the populations on the traditional biomass use continues to contribute to smoke-related health problems, deforestation and desertification and thereby affecting production and security.
