Global energy experts chart the way forward “Towards an Energy Compact in the Sahel”

ECREEE - Praia, - 21st  June 2021 - The Acting Executive Director of the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, (ECREEE), Mr. Bah F. M. Saho has described the provision of mini-grids, and off-grids solutions for electricity as one of the best strategies to tackle energy challenges in the Sahel. Mr. Saho was speaking during a question and answer session at a high-profile forum together with inspiring global leaders working to advance affordable and clean energy globally.

ECREEE Acting Executive Director describes ECOWAS program on Gender Mainstreaming as a Milestone Project

ECREEE - Praia, - 28th April 2021- The Acting Executive Director of the ECOWAS Centre of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency ECREEE, Mr. Bah F M Saho, has described the ECOWAS program on Gender Mainstreaming in energy access (ECOW-GEN) as a milestone designed to meet the sustainable Energy for All in West Africa.  The ECREEE Acting Executive Director was speaking during a question and answer session of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership virtual meeting held under the aegis of the African Union and the European Union. 

ECOWAS Energy specialized Institutions and Agencies Task ERERA to Launch The Second Phase of Power Market

The seventh coordination meeting of ECOWAS specialized institutions and agencies in charge of energy, ended in Accra on 21st May 2021 with pertinent recommendations and decisions towards achieving energy security in West Africa. The Accra meeting was presided over by the ECOWAS Commissioner for Energy and Mines, Mr. Sédiko Douka.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) commemorates its 46th Anniversary today, May 28, 2021. Forty-Six years ago in Lagos, Nigeria, the leaders of West Africa signed the Lagos Treaty establishing ECOWAS with the aim of integrating the region economically to better the lives of its peoples.

ECREEE Slashes Over Two-tonnes of Carbon Emission in Cabo Verde

ECREEE - Praia, - 11th May 2021 -The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency in partnership with the Global Environmental Facility recently implemented ten demonstrative renewable energy projects in Cabo Verde worth $ 8.6 million.  The GEF Cabo Verde IV project dubbed “Market promotion of small and medium scale renewable energy systems” was executed in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Energy of Cabo Verde. 

ECREEE ORGANIZES WORKSHOP TARGETING ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN ECOWAS

ECREEE, in collaboration with partners organizes a virtual workshop on Multi-Country Regional Project on the theme leapfrogging to Energy-Efficient and Climate-Friendly Lighting, Refrigerators and Room Air Conditioners in the ECOWAS Member States.
 

ECREEE SUPPORTS CABO VERDE TO RENEW GRID EMISSION FACTOR AND STANDARDIZED BASELINE

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) through technical support from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Regional Collaboration Center (RCC) in Lome, and National experts, has supported the Government of Cabo Verde to update and renew the country’s Grid Emission Factor (GEF) and Standardized Baseline (SB).
