ECOWAS agrees on renewable energy and energy efficiency policies and targets

The Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) works towards a voluntary commitment to the Sustainable Energy For All Initiative. In a regional workshop, held from 25 to 27 June 2012 in Dakar, Senegal, the Directors of the ECOWAS Ministries of Energy agreed on the main targets and pillars of a regional renewable energy and energy efficiency policy of ECOWAS.

ECOWAS Workshop validated 5 million Euro Program on Small Scale Hydro Power

Monrovia, 20 April 2012 -The ECOWAS regional workshop on small scale hydro power ended on 20th April 2012 in Monrovia, Liberia. The five day workshop was organized by the ECOWAS Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Energy Sector Management Assistance Programme (ESMAP) of the World Bank, as well as the Government of Liberia.

ECREEE Side Event at the Africa Carbon Forum

ECREEE in collaboration with Kommunalkredit Public Consulting (KPC), the Belgian Federal JI/CDM Programme and the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO), will jointly be hosting a side event, titled “Harnessing Carbon Market Opportunities in Africa", at the African Carbon Forum, scheduled for the 19th of April, 2012.

Regional Workshop on Small Scale Hydropower
