ECOWAS Member States Move towards Actualization of Sustainable Energy Ambitions

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), in collaboration of the Governments of Cote d’Ivoire, Austria and Spain as well as the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) organized a Regional Kick-off Workshop on the Development of the ECOWAS Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency National Action Plans and Sustainable Energy For All (SE4ALL) Action Agendas from 17th to 19th March 2014 in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

Praia - The eighth Meeting of the Board of the ECOWAS Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) convened on Friday, 14th February 2014 at the Boardroom of ECREEE in Praia, Cape Verde to, among others, adopt the ECREEE 2013 Work Plan Implementation Report; and the draft ECREEE Work Programme 2014. The Meeting was attended by eleven ECREEE Board members and chaired by the ECOWAS Commissioner for infrastructure with two GIZ representatives on observer status.

A two-day seminar jointly organized by the Government of Côte d’Ivoire, the International Gas Union (IGU),the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and Petroci will be held from 4 to 5 November 2013, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) will receive at its headquarters in Praia, Cape Verde, a high-level delegation from the West African Development Bank (Banque Ouest africaine de developpement, in French), composed by Mr. Eric BIO, special adviser in the Office of the Chairman and Director of the Carbon Fund project and Mr. Mahamadou BIGA, Head of the Public sector department at the Direction of Rural development and Infrastructures of the Bank, from 12th to 14th June 2013. The visit aims to strengthen cooperation initiated between ECREEE and BOAD.
