ECREEE Clocks Eleven with Excellent Improvements in the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Sectors

ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) celebrates eleven years of excellent service to the ECOWAS community and beyond. ECREEE was established by the Authority of Heads of State of ECOWAS in response to the energy crisis faced by millions of West African citizens. Since its inauguration in 2010, ECREEE took a bold initiative in collaboration with donor partners as well as ministries of energy in member countries to strive to reduce the daunting energy deficit and promote renewable energy and energy efficiency in the region.

ECREEE - Praia, - 25th June 2021 The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) in partnership with the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, EU Tech Chamber (EUTECH) and the Senegalese government are making final preparations for the Senegal Business Forum and Fair schedule to take place on the 29th June 2021.   The high-profile event will take place in Dakar, under the chairmanship of the President of Senegal, Macky Sall.

Togo Inaugurates 50MW Maiden Solar Plant

ECREEE - Praia, - 24th June 2021 - The government of Togo has recently inaugurated a 50-megawatt state-of-the-art solar plant as part of efforts to reduce the country’s dependency on fossil fuel. The facility dubbed Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed solar power plant is the country’s maiden renewable energy facility and one of the largest solar plants in West Africa. The project was funded under the IRENA-ADFD Project.

Saho has described the provision of mini-grids, and off-grids solutions for electricity as one of the best strategies to tackle energy challenges in the Sahel. Mr. Saho was speaking during a question and answer session at a high-profile forum together with inspiring global leaders working to advance affordable and clean energy globally.

ECREEE Acting Executive Director describes ECOWAS program on Gender Mainstreaming as a Milestone Project

ECREEE - Praia, - 28th April 2021- The Acting Executive Director of the ECOWAS Centre of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency ECREEE, Mr. Bah F M Saho, has described the ECOWAS program on Gender Mainstreaming in energy access (ECOW-GEN) as a milestone designed to meet the sustainable Energy for All in West Africa.  The ECREEE Acting Executive Director was speaking during a question and answer session of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership virtual meeting held under the aegis of the African Union and the European Union.
