TECHNICAL ASSISTANT TO SUPPORT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ECOWAS CERTIFICATION FOR SUSTAINABLE ENERGY SKILLS (ECSES)

For successful RE and EE installations and projects, there is a need for quality assurance at various levels. This includes quality assurance of equipment e.g. through the establishment and enforcement of product standards. However, high-quality products will only provide the desired services if RE and EE systems are designed, installed and maintained by highly qualified individuals.

The non-availability of reliable and updated energy information is a major barrier for local and international investors, policy makers, and other project developers in the energy sector in the ECOWAS Region. Information about the energy resources and their potentials are not readily available in all member states, which greatly impacts decision making, policies formulation, monitoring and evaluation of targets. Given this situation, significant opportunities are lost for sustainable energy development in the region.
