ECREEE co-organized the First International Off-Grid Renewable Energy Conference (IOREC)

ECREEE has co-organized, jointy with IRENA and the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) the first International Off-Grid Renewable Energy Conference (IOREC) in Accra (Ghana) from the 1st to the 2nd of November 2012.The meeting focused on the scaling-up of rural electrification in developing countries  through the massive deployment of off-grid systems (mini-grid and stand-alone applications) based on renewable energy. It was alsoan occasion to stimulate the dialogue among stakeholders involved in the rural electrification field and, in particular, between the public and the private sector, with a focus on Africa. IOREC gathered participants from public institutions, international organizations, financing institutions, academia and private companies that are active in the rural electrification and in the renewable energy fields, mostly related to Africa but also coming from other regions of the world, not only Europe or US but also Asia.The International Off-Grid Renewable Energy Conference has also been an official contribution to the Sustainable Energy for All initiative.
