Dissemination of technical and economical feasible solutions for solar photovoltaic (PV) irrigation in ECOWAS

Accra, 28/June/2018 - The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy efficiency (ECREEE) has organized a research dissemination workshop on the Economic Viability of Large Scale Solar Photovoltaic Irrigation in the ECOWAS region. The workshop took place in Accra, Ghana on the 28th of June 2018 and featured more than 60 participants from the 15 ECOWAS countries.

ECREEE Holds Sustainable Bioenergy and WACCA Forum in Mali

ECREEE – Praia Cape Verde, 7th May 2018 - The national workshop on Sustainable Bioenergy and WACCA financed by ECREEE opened in Bamako, Mali on Thursday 3rd May 2018. This is a two-day capacity building and sensitisation workshop on Sustainable Bioenergy and WACCA programs.

ECREEE Participates in Green Climate Fund 2nd Structured Dialogue for Africa

As part of ECREEEs goal to be an implementing entity (IE) of the Green Climate Fund-GCF and support the mobilization of climate finance for the deployment renewable energy technologies at regional and national level, ECREEE participated in the 2nd structured Dialogue for Africa that took place at Hotel L’Amitié in Bamako, Mali from the 3 to 6th of April.

ECREEE held its 2nd Media Workshop for Francophone ECOWAS Countries

ECREEE – Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, 13th April 2018 – The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) concluded a two-day media workshop for journalists on issues relating to renewable energy and energy efficiency in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire from 12th – 13th April, 2018. The two-day capacity building forum has provided an opportunity for ECREEE to update the media on their program of activities.

BOOSTING SOLAR THERMAL ENERGY ACROSS ECOWAS

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), in coordination with the Universidade de Cabo Verde (UniCV) and AEE-INTEC organized, from 19-21 March 2018, the 3rd Round Training Course for Experts in Solar Thermal Energy. The workshop took place at Câmara de Comércio de Barlavento, in Mindelo, São Vicente, where 25 participants, coming from both the public and private sector, took part in the training.

GUINEA BISSAU SUSTAINABLE ENERGY INVESTMENT WORKSHOP

The Guinea Bissau Sustainable Energy Investment Workshop will take place on the 4thof May 2018 in Lisbon between 2 and 6 pm.
 
Organized by ALER – the Lusophone Renewable Energy Association, in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Industry in Guinea Bissau, UNIDO – United Nations Industrial Organization and ECREEE – ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, the event will be supported by GEF – the Global Environment Facility.
 

Stakeholders in the energy sector discuss challenges to ECOWAS energy ambitions

ECREEE – Dakar 9th March 2018 – The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency, (ECREEE), was established to create an enabling environment for renewable energy and energy efficiency markets in the region and works steadfastly to implement activities directed to mitigating existing barriers impeding the large scale promotion of renewable energy & energy efficiency.

USAID and ECREEE Partner to Increase Energy Access Across the West Africa Region

On 9th February 2018, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) held a signing ceremony to mark the beginning of a new partnership to enhance renewable energy development in West Africa. The US Ambassador to Ghana, Robert P. Jackson, and the Executive Director of ECREEE Mr. Mahama Kappiah, signed the agreement and expressed their commitment to sustainably develop the renewable energy sector in West Africa.
