ECREEE Regional Training of Trainers Workshop: HOMER software for Renewable Energy project design

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) organized a four-day Training of Trainers on HOMER as a tool for renewable energy (RE) project design from June 24–27, 2013, in Praia, Cape Verde. In the training attended 35 participants coming from 14 ECOWAS countries plus Mauritania and representing different type of institutions, utilities, ministries and other energy related public bodies and universities.

The training used theoretical concepts, simulations, practical exercises and field visits to existing RE projects in Cape Verde to introduce and equip potential trainers on the use of HOMER and to enable them conduct basic follow-up national trainings in the ECOWAS Member States.

 

HOMER USER's CERTIFICATE

To become a Certified HOMER User by ECREEE, applicants are expected to:

  • By the 31st of July 2013, complete and pass the online questionnaire by clicking here
  • By the 1st of September 2013, submit the national exercise, consisting of:
  1. Brief description of the project and conclusions (Word format), and
  2. HOMER file

Send both files to esemedo@ecreee.org

Based on ECREEE's evaluation, applicants will be informed on the status of their certification. Eligible candidates will be sent a HOMER USER's Certificate.

ECREEE's HELP DESK:  The ECREEE Help Desk will be available throughout this period (until 1st of September 2013) to assist applicants with any enquiries relating to this exercise. Please send all enquiries to esemedo@ecreee.org

 

HOMER TRAINER's CERTIFICATE

To become a Certified HOMER Trainer by ECREEE, applicants are expected to:

  • Prepare a concept note (program and budget) for the National Training to be conducted in your institution (Concept notes should be sent  to esemedo@ecreee.org
  • Secure approval of the concept note and proposed dates
  • Participate and pass an eligibility test ( Test results should be sent to esemedo@ecreee.org)

Based on ECREEE's evaluation, applicants will be informed on the status of their certification. Eligible candidates will be sent a HOMER TRAINER's Certificate.
