ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) 2022

The ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) is the premier energy event in West Africa. It was established in 2015 by the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) to support investment in sustainable energy anchored by strong policy initiatives of ECOWAS member states.

 

ESEF is a demand-driven and results-oriented event that aims to facilitate investment in the regional renewable energy sector. The forum also encourages cooperation and partnerships to accelerate the establishment of a viable market for sustainable energy solutions in ECOWAS. ESEF is also a platform to improve the policy and regulatory landscape for private sector investment through engagement between ECOWAS policy makers, regional and international private sector actors, and financial institutions.

 

In six years, ESEF has established its reputation as the premier event for energy stakeholders in West Africa, bringing together over 1,000 stakeholders over the years, including heads of states, ministers, and heads of development organizations, financial institutions, and the private sector, all of whom are renowned in the energy and climate field.

 

The 7th edition of the forum will take place from October 31 to November 1, 2022 in Abuja, Nigeria, and will be special in many ways: it will be the first face-to-face event since the COVID-19 pandemic; it will be hosted for the first time in the city of Abuja, home of the ECOWAS Commission; it will also return to the ESEF, the IRENA Investment Forums, and the International Renewable Energy Agency's (IRENA) flagship Annual International Off-Grid Renewable Energy Conference and Exhibition (IOREC) on November 2-4. All three events will be presented as part of the International Energy Transition Week - Nigeria.
