What to expect

ESEF has been a vehicle for collaboration and transformative progress towards the sustainable energy targets of the ECOWAS region. This year’s forum will follow up on commitments by ECOWAS member countries in their quest to achieve the regional sustainable energy goals set for 2030. ESEF2021 will promote exchange of ideas and cooperation to support the implementation of the ECOWAS region’s sustainable energy targets and will be divided into different sessions supported by thematic areas to deep dive into the challenges still facing the ECOWAS sustainable energy market; how they are being overcome and where the opportunities lie for speeding up the implementation of game-changing projects. Four overarching themes of Policies and Investments; Green Hydrogen; Technology and Innovation; and Productive Uses of Renewable Energy, will be covered over the course of the Forum.

ESEF2021 will bring together diverse group of stakeholders from within and outside the ECOWAS region. The expected participants include high-level representatives from government such as ministers and directors of energy, regional and international development partners/donors, regional and international private sector companies, financial institutions, academia, research and civil society.
