ECREEE HOLDS CAPACITY BUILDING FOR ENTREPRENEURS ON PRODUCTION AND DISSEMINATION OF IMPROVED COOKSTOVES IN SIERRA LEONE

kono, Sierra Leone - 21/07/22 - With the support of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), ECREEE solicited the technical expertise of the Institute of Leadership, Energy, Environment and Management (ILEM) to undertake hands-on training for local cookstove artisans in and around the district of Kono from 18 – 22 July. This workshop is one of the 2022 WACCA activities planned for specified countries in the ECOWAS region to undertake capacity building on design and construction of modern and efficient cookstoves.

ECREEE Reinforces Improved Cook-stove Production in West Africa

ECREEE - Praia, - 11th July 2022 - The West Africa Clean Cooking Alliance (WACCA) is bracing-up for a seven-day camp designed to train entrepreneurs on the production and dissemination of improved cook stoves. The training which will be organized by ECREEE in partnership with the Ministry of Energy of Sierra Leone, is scheduled to take place in the Government Technical Institute (GTI) in Kono, Sierra Leone from the 18th to 23rd July 2022.

Sierra Leone trains government staff to implement ECOWAS Gender and Energy Policy

With support from ECREEE, the government of Sierra Leone organized a five-day training to equip its staff to implement the National Action Plan for Implementing the ECOWAS Policy for Gender Mainstreaming in Energy Access.

The President of the ECOWAS Commission His Excellency Jean-Claude Kassi Brou proceeded on a working visit to ECREEE Headquarters in Praia, Cape Verde with his delegation on 27th April 2022.​

He was welcomed and hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cabo Verde, His Excellency Dr. Rui Alberto Figueiredo Soares and then proceeded on a courtesy visit to the President of Cabo Verde, His Excellency Jose Maria Neves.

Dakar, Senegal 8th April 2022 – A group of Energy and scientific experts in West Africa have disclosed that the region holds very good potential for producing green hydrogen and thus providing an opportunity for the region to play a key role in the emerging green hydrogen market.  Experts also noted that the green hydrogen - H2 atlas project produced by the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use) (WASCAL) and its research partners, revealed that West Africa has huge renewable energy
