In the framework of the celebration of World Energy Day, the Universidade Tecnica do Atlantico (UTA) organized a conference for students and guests at the ISECMAR building in Mindelo today, May 29.

Several national and international speakers from academia and the private sector addressed topics such as the smart grid, the history of the electricity sector in Cabo Verde and losses in the electricity distribution network. The conference concluded on the topic of the privatization of the national utility ELECTRA.

The ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) is one of the largest energy events in West Africa. It was initiated in 2016 by the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) to support investments in sustainable energy anchored on ambitious policies on the part of ECOWAS Member States.

Praia hosts Meeting of the Technical Committee of the ECOWAS Regional System for the Certification of Sustainable Energy Skills

Praia, May 24, 2023 - The Third Meeting of the Technical Committee for the Certification of Sustainable Energy Competencies debuted on May 24 Praia under the auspices of the ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE). Launched in 2015, the certification platform aims to promote professional skills and fill quality assurance gaps along the renewable energy and energy efficiency value chain in the ECOWAS region.

A team from ECREEE led by the Executive Director of ECREEE Mr. Jean Francis Sempore, and representatives from the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), were in Lome, Togo, on a working visit to the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) from 15 to 16 May 2023.

Closing of regional workshops on quality assurance of off-grid solar Photovoltaic products

ECREEE closed this Friday, May 18, 2023, the series of regional capacity building workshops in the ECOWAS region on the quality assurance of off-grid solar photovoltaic products by the one organized in Lomé, Togo from May 16 to 18, 2023.

This workshop was preceded by two first regional workshops which took place respectively from May 3 to 6 in Niamey, Niger, and from May 9 to 11 in Accra, Ghana.

ECREEE Meets with the Synergy of Renewable Energy Actors in Togo

ECREEE held a meeting with the Synergy of Renewable Energy Actors in Togo (SAER-Togo) on 19th May 2023 in Lome, Togo. The association brings together actors (Companies, NGOs and associations) of the Renewable Energy sub-sector in Togo. Its purpose is to coordinate actions between its members and promote partnership between them, the Togolese State and national and international organizations.

Meeting of the Technical Committee of the ECOWAS Certification of Sustainable Energy Skills

ECREEE with support from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is organizing the third Technical Committee meeting of the ECOWAS Certification of Sustainable Energy Skills (ECSES) from the 24th -26th of May 2023, at CERMI (Centro de Energias Renováveis e Manutenção Industrial), in Praia, Cabo Verde. The meeting is organized under the umbrella of the ProCEM-II (Promotion of a climate-friendly electricity market in the ECOWAS region) program.
