ECREEE PAYS A VISIT TO FUCAEX

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), represented by its Executive Director, Mr. Francis Sempore, and the Seconded Technical Advisor from AECID to ECREEE, Ms. Vanesa Martos, paid a working visit to the Canary Foundation for External Action (FUCAEX) on February 9th, 2023, in Praia, to explore future collaboration opportunities. This visit is in the framework of the ECREEE’s strategy to engage and foster partnerships to promote sustainable energy in the ECOWAS region.

ECREEE welcomes 4 professionals for the ECOWAS Internship Immersion Program for Young Graduates

Praia, January 25th, 2023 – The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), opens its doors to receive 4 interns for a period of 12 months within the framework of the ECOWAS Internship Immersion Program for young graduates in ECOWAS Institutions with the goal of professional integration.

ECREEE aims to increase the use of solar energy to boost agriculture in West Africa

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in partnership with the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), organized a webinar under the theme ‘Solar Energy and Agricultural Development in West Africa’, on December 14th, 2022. More than 30 stakeholders and partners took part in the webinar which provided an excellent environment to discuss mechanisms on how to further integrate renewable energy to optimize agricultural productivity in the region.

ECREEE visits the WASCAL Competence Center

The Executive Director of the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), Mr. Francis SEMPORE, visited the Competence Centre of WASCAL (West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use), located in Ouagadougou, on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

Another year has come to an end - and what a year it has been! The year 2022 has not been without obstacles to overcome, but there have also been many achievements culminating in the finalization of the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) Strategic Plan 2023-2027.

FIRST MINISTERIAL STEERING COMMITTEE ON THE AMILCAR CABRAL SUBMARINE CABLE PROJECT

Praia – Cabo Verde, 16th December 2022 - The first (1st) Steering Committee Meeting on the Amilcar Cabral Submarine Cable project was held on 16th December, 2022 in Praia, Cabo Verde. This meeting was preceded by an Experts Meeting held on 14-15 December 2022. The project aims to provide the Member States of Cabo Verde, The Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia and Sierra Leone by with a subsea fibre optic cable which will Increase international broadband capacity and guarantee redundancy in the concerned countries.

ECREEE hosts the Meeting of the ECOWAS Technical Management Committee

Within the framework of the Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP), ECREEE in collaboration with the Directorate of Industry of the ECOWAS Commission is hosted the ECOWAS Technical Management Committee (TMC) Meeting, from the 7th -8th December, 2022, in Praia, Cape Verde.
