IRENA/ADFD Third Call for Project Proposals

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) has just launched the third funding cycle of the IRENA/ADFD Project Facility.

The deadline for applications is 18 February 2015 (17:00 Gulf Standard Time).

Applicants need to register and apply online.

For this third funding cycle, the Facility is offering new lower loan rates for all cycles.

On 12 November 2007, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) organized a conference on peace and security in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The Ouagadougou Declaration highlighted the need for regional cooperation in various sectors. In the energy sector, the declaration articulated the need to establish a specialized Centre to promote clean, efficient and affordable energy. The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) was therefore established as a consequence.

Scholarships for West African Young Professionals - Study Integration in a Euro-African Context

The WAI-ZEI Cooperation project offers seven scholarships for West African young professionals to study the "Master of European Studies - Governance and Regulation" (MES) at ZEI in Bonn in the years 2015 and 2016. Scholarships cover the tuition fee of 6.500 €.

The Third International Conference for Small Island Developing States, held from 1 to 4 September 2014 in Apia,Samoa, featured the launch of a network of regional sustainable energy centers for SIDS in Africa, the Pacific, Caribbean and the Indian Ocean. The south-south multi-stakeholder partnership is coordinated by the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Sustainable Energy Mechanism – SIDS DOCK and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) with financial support of the Governments of Austria and Spain.
