Energy Policy and Economy Training

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) in partnership with the Francophone Institute for Sustainable Development (IFDD) and ENDA Énergie, are organizing a capacity building workshop in Praia, Cabo Verde from September 27 to October 11, on Energy Policy and Economy.

Regional Workshop on ECOWAS Green Hydrogen Strategy and Action Plans

To harness the potential of green hydrogen in the ECOWAS region, the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), in collaboration with the West African Science Service Centre for Climate and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL), developed the ECOWAS Green Hydrogen Policy and Strategic Framework, which was adopted by the ECOWAS Council of Ministers in July 2023, in Bissau, Guinea Bissau.

The 11th Meeting of ECREEE’s National Focal Institutions

ECREEE is organizing the 11th meeting of its National Focal Institutions (NFIs), from July 24 -28, 2023 in Niamey, Niger. The overall objective is to strengthen the collaboration between ECREEE and the NFIs   to identify the needs and facilitate the implementation of the various programs and projects in the Member States.

The 5-day meeting will cover, amongst others, the following specific objectives.

Regional Workshop on Green Hydrogen Regional Strategy and Action Plan

The ECOWAS Green Hydrogen Policy and Strategy Framework was developed and adopted by the ECOWAS Energy Ministers on the 24th of March 2023 in Bissau, Guinea Bissau, and it’s expected to be adopted by the ECOWAS Council of Ministers in July 2023. The vision is to position the ECOWAS region as one of the most competitive producers and suppliers of green hydrogen globally.

ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) 2022

The ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) is the premier energy event in West Africa. It was established in 2015 by the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) to support investment in sustainable energy anchored by strong policy initiatives of ECOWAS member states.
 

Validation Workshop of the Draft Regional Policy of Green Hydrogen

Energy Experts in The ECOWAS Region Poised to Validate the Regional Progress Report

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) is organizing a two-day ECOWREX regional validation workshop scheduled for the 16th to 17th June 2022, in Dakar, Senegal. The Dakar meeting will validate the regional monitoring report for Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency and Energy Access in the ECOWAS region. 

Kick-off Meeting: ECOWAS Green Hydrogen Policy

ECREEE has partnered with WASCAL - a large-scale research-focused Climate Service Centre designed to help mitigate, and tackle the challenges of climate change in West Africa, and thereby enhance the resilience of human and environmental systems and increased variability. This collaboration with ECREEE will develop a regional Atlas of green hydrogen and unroll a roadmap for the adoption of a regional policy of green hydrogen.

ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF 2021)

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) will be hosting the fifth edition of the annual ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) from 7-9 December 2021.
