3rd Meeting of the ECREEE ECOWAS-Donors Consultation Committee

The 3rd Meeting of the ECREEE ECOWAS-Donors Consultation Committee will take place on October 14, 2023 in Praia, Cabo Verde. The Consultative Committee is a consultative body responsible for reporting to the President of the Commission on the monitoring of ECREEE´s operations. It advises on ways and means of accelerating the achievement of ECREEE´s results.

Advanced Training on Solar Thermal Energy

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), in collaboration with IEA Solar Heating & Cooling (SHC) and the Centre for Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance of Cabo Verde (CERMI), is organizing a advanced training course for solar thermal energy professionals, with a particular focus on large-scale solar water heating and solar cooling. The training will take place on October 10 and 11, 2023 in Praia, Cabo Verde.

Energy Policy and Economy Training

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) in partnership with the Francophone Institute for Sustainable Development (IFDD) and ENDA Énergie, are organizing a capacity building workshop in Praia, Cabo Verde from September 27 to October 11, on Energy Policy and Economy.

Regional Workshop on ECOWAS Green Hydrogen Strategy and Action Plans

To harness the potential of green hydrogen in the ECOWAS region, the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), in collaboration with the West African Science Service Centre for Climate and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL), developed the ECOWAS Green Hydrogen Policy and Strategic Framework, which was adopted by the ECOWAS Council of Ministers in July 2023, in Bissau, Guinea Bissau.

The 11th Meeting of ECREEE’s National Focal Institutions

ECREEE is organizing the 11th meeting of its National Focal Institutions (NFIs), from July 24 -28, 2023 in Niamey, Niger. The overall objective is to strengthen the collaboration between ECREEE and the NFIs   to identify the needs and facilitate the implementation of the various programs and projects in the Member States.

The 5-day meeting will cover, amongst others, the following specific objectives.

Regional Workshop on Green Hydrogen Regional Strategy and Action Plan

The ECOWAS Green Hydrogen Policy and Strategy Framework was developed and adopted by the ECOWAS Energy Ministers on the 24th of March 2023 in Bissau, Guinea Bissau, and it’s expected to be adopted by the ECOWAS Council of Ministers in July 2023. The vision is to position the ECOWAS region as one of the most competitive producers and suppliers of green hydrogen globally.
